Funny Mothers Day Jokes and Cartoon: Parent Poetry

(The cartoonists are pretty flaky about keeping their embed codes enabled so that's why you see this blank. FYI, You can click on their link to see their newest cartoons. Meanwhile, check out the funny quotes!)

From Denny: For all the hard-working parents out there who could use a good laugh you will enjoy the various posts I've put together for this year's holiday. It's great fun what you can mine from all those funny emails your friends send you over the years. Whatever the original title of this was called has been lost in the mists of time. So I renamed it.

I call this little collection Parent Poetry...

What My Mother Taught Me About Life...

My Mother taught me about 'anticipation' - Just wait until your father gets home.

My Mother taught me to 'meet a challenge' - What were you thinking? Answer me when I talk to you! Don't talk back to me!

My Mother taught me 'logic' - If you fall out off that swing and break your neck, you're not going to the store with me.

My mother taught me about 'hypocrisy.' - If I told you once, I've told you a million times. Don't exaggerate!

My mother taught me the 'circle of Life.' - I brought you into this world, and I can take you out.

My mother taught me about 'behavior modification.' - Stop acting like your father!

Parent After Thoughts...

You spend a half hour searching for your sunglasses only to have your teenager say, Mom, why don't you wear the ones you pushed up on your head?

You hear a baby cry in the grocery store, and you start to gently sway back and forth, back and forth. However, your children are at school!

For weeks a six-year old lad kept telling his first-grade teacher about the baby brother or sister that was expected at his house.

One day the mother allowed the boy to feel the movements of the unborn child. The six-year old was obviously impressed, but made no comment. Furthermore, he stopped telling his teacher about the impending event. The teacher finally sat the boy on her lap and said, "Tommy, whatever has become of that baby brother or sister you were expecting at home?" Tommy burst into tears and confessed, "I think Mommy ate it!"

Mother to daughter advice: Cook a man a fish and you feed him for a day. But teach a man to fish and you get rid of him for the whole weekend.

The mother of three notoriously unruly youngsters was asked whether or not she'd have children if she had it to do over again. "Yes," she replied. "But not the same ones.

Quotes From Those Precocious Kids and Harried Moms...

My friend Myron tells me, "Last year on Mother's Day the whole family got together for a big dinner and afterward, when Mom started to clean up, I said to her, "Don't bother with those dishes, Mom. Today is Mother's Day, you can always do them tomorrow."

There's not a lot of warmth between me and my mother. I asked her about it. I said "Mrs. Stoller..."

If it's five o'clock and the children are still alive, I've done my job. - Understandably Anonymous

I think I'd be a good mother. Maybe a little overprotective. Like I would never let the kid out - of my body.

An angry mother took her son to the doctor and asked, "Is a nine-year-old boy able to perform appendectomy?"
"Of course not," the doctor said impatiently.
The mother turned to her son and said, "What did I tell you? Now put it back."

The child had his mother's eyes, his mother's nose, and his mother's mouth. This leaves his mother with a pretty blank expression. -

A woman came to ask the doctor if a woman should have children after thirty-five. I said, "Thirty-five children are enough for any woman."

When my mom got really mad, she would say, "Your butt is my meat." Not a particularly attractive phrase. And I always wondered, now, what wine goes with that?

My mom was a little weird. When I was little she would make chocolate frosting. And she'd let me lick the beaters. And then she'd turn them off.

The boy's mother had bought him two new ties. He hurried into his bedroom, immediately put on one of them, and hurried back. "Look, Mama! Isn't it gorgeous?" His mother said, "What's the matter? You don't like the other one?"

Hilarious Egg Pelting Politics Ukrainian Style

From Denny: You have got to see this to believe it! Can you imagine this happening in America? Considering how frustrated we all are with our American politicians maybe this could become a new trend worldwide? Ukrainian politics gone viral...

What I like about this video is how the egg-pelted politicians were ready for the barrage by fluffing out their secret weapons at the ready: umbrella shields. Check it out because our debate over health care was nothing compared to how frustrated the nationalist Ukrainians are over what their politicians just did to them. Worldwide it seems that the people do not have a real voice in their governments. Politicians had better stock up on umbrella shields because I expect egg sales are going to be rising sharply.

Roundup of Late Nite Funnies: Colbert Lampoons Arizona Immigration Law

From Denny: Here's a fun sampling of the laugh out loud funnies going on over at The Social Poets on Mondays where I round up the late night jokes, political cartoons and funny videos lampooning something, someone and somewhere. It's a great way to get through the work week with a silly grin on your face. Maybe your boss will actually think you are enjoying your lame job - or looking at eight hours of porn on company time just like the weirdos over at the SEC. "Our government at work..." :)

Posts Roundup This Week at Dennys Blogs 25 Apr 2010

From Denny: Reading is such a pleasure because we can learn new information or take a mental trip into someone else's world to see what they discover. These days I seem to be on the writing end rather than the reading end. Maybe that's what happens after you spend so much time reading: you start writing! :)

I love to poke around and see what I find and then share it on my blogs. Here are some of the latest posts and also many of the most popular ones from my many eclectic interests, enjoy! And hey! - if you cook anything wonderful from these recipe posts, send a sample dish my way - and let me know how you have altered the recipes to your tastes. We love trying new foods at our house!

Ridiculous Outrageous Extra Airline Fees: Political Cartoons

From Denny: Even the usually upbeat sunny personality of TV anchor newsman, Brian Williams of NBC News, is disgusted with the airlines and their petty fees for the obvious. Cartoonists have been lampooning their stingy mindset all week.

It does make you wonder if the airlines will be charging for you to get back your shoes, belt and laptop after getting strip searched - after getting full body scanned and walking through the metal detector. Women wonder if the airlines will start charging for the weight of their earrings. People at the check-in are wondering if now the airlines will require each passenger to carry volcano insurance.

They are charging for a bottle of water, charging for a bag of peanuts, charging toilet fees and only one toilet visit per flight (try telling that one to a four year old with a tiny bladder), charging for getting cussed out by surly airline attendants (OK, maybe not charging for that just yet but give it time for some accountant to catch wind of this post and say, "Wow! What a great idea! Why didn't I think of that?) and get charged for wearing four layers of clothes to avoid extra baggage fees... :) The list could go on and on with the truly weird and the ridiculous.

And this is pretty much how the public feels these days, left at the terminal trying to hitch a ride out...

Check out the rest of the Saturday series of political cartoons this week:

Cool Earth Day Links, Message From Our Prez

From Denny: Since I've been getting bombarded with email about Earth Day - a lot of it worthy to visit - it deserved a post to pass along what people are doing to appreciate their planet.

There are news articles, children's activities and suggestions of how you can help in small ways every day. Make every day your Earth Day! :)

Earth Day, 40 Years Later: How Far Have We Come? - 20 Million Americans Joined in First Earth Day; Organizers Say 1 Billion Worldwide Taking Part Today

Letter from Vice President Joe Biden

Good afternoon,

We’ve been celebrating Earth Day for 40 years now, but the truth is that tomorrow may be the first one when we are truly able to say that we have started down the road to a real clean energy economy -- and a better world for our kids.

Today I am kicking off the Administration’s celebration of Earth Day in advance by announcing $452 million in Recovery Act “Retrofit Ramp-Up” awards. These awards will help make energy efficiency affordable for hundreds of thousands of homeowners and businesses, and are expected to create tens of thousands of jobs in the process.

And this is just a tiny sliver of what we’ve done. As the President’s point man on the Recovery Act, which included America’s biggest investment ever in clean energy, I’ve visited countless communities that have seen jobs come back through these kinds of initiatives.

You can learn more about all our efforts at WhiteHouse.gov/EarthDay, and also join Carol Browner, Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change, for a special online video chat tomorrow at 12:00PM EDT at WhiteHouse.gov.

Of course Earth Day is about more than just government action to protect our air, water and environment. Since the first Earth Day forty years ago countless Americans have taken action to make their local communities cleaner and healthier and to have a positive impact on our planet.

This year, President Obama is calling on all of us to pitch in and participate in the Earth Day of Service. On Serve.gov/EarthDay you can find thousands of Earth Day Service events in communities across the country.

Whether you pick up trash at a local park, plant trees, or clean up the river or stream in your hometown, there are plenty of ways to get involved. I hope you’ll join President Obama and me in celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.

Sincerely,

Joe Biden
Vice President of the United States

"As we continue to tackle our environmental challenges, it’s clear that change won’t come from Washington alone. It will come from Americans across the country who take steps in their own homes and their own communities to make that change happen."

- President Barack Obama
