From Denny: Here on the Gulf Coast we continue to get bombarded with idiot ads from BP trying to convince us how kind and considerate they are while they continue to screw over the payments to fishermen and other people adversely affected by this environmental mess. BP even recruited supposedly former "born and bred" native Louisianians to be their spokespersons. Of course, these guys don't have the local accents but we can overlook that gaffe, one of many.

The good news is the folks in Taiwan got busy long ago when they talked to the White House. They retrofitted an oil tanker and turned it into the world's largest oil skimmer. It's called The Whale because it is four football fields long and ten stories high, a real mammoth ship. It is cruising out in the Gulf of Mexico this week as it awaits permission from the Coast Guard to begin operations.

The people of Louisiana are impatient with the Coast Guard fretting over whether cleaned oil spill water could cause a hazard to the Gulf of Mexico - as opposed to the choking crude oil that inhabits the deep today from the surface, down through the layers of the water down to the bottom of the ocean. Get with the program, Coast Guard, and quit throwing up your usual FUBAR road blocks to getting things done. Here, in Louisiana, if we could impeach the Coast Guard and replace them with common sense people to get the jobs done, we would! :)
