From Denny: Now if this isn't the most obnoxious thing. Some little kid is doing the typical All American summer time deal: running a lemonade stand at the edge of her yard. It's like the budding business woman. Along come some health inspectors in the state of Oregon who bully the little girl, telling her she needs a license to sell her lemonade. Uh, don't you think if it was truly an issue they would have asked to talk to her mother or parents? Instead they wailed on this little seven year old kid.
Turns out that it's the law that to sell any kind of food in that county that you must have a food handler's license. And it costs a whopping $120 - to sell 50 cent lemonade. Oh, and seven year olds are not allowed to procure them.
The county commissioner ended up phoning the mother, Maria, to apologize. He also explained the situation and promised to amend the law so little girls like hers can sell lemonade in the free market. Wow, our government at work.
